Hurghada was, 30 years ago, a small fishing village aside the beautiful Red Sea… then the divers and holidaymakers found it! Now it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Egypt with the emphasis on sun, fun and relaxation. There are many international hotels in the resort providing 5 star service and many, many smaller locally owned hotels which are equally as good for those on a tighter budget. What they may lack in splendour, compared to the big chains, they more than make up for with friendly and attentive service.

Downtown Hurghada is truly cosmopolitan with an abundance of restaurants, cafes, bars, disco’s… plenty for all ages and all energy levels. Shopping is abundantly available with good natured but strenuous bartering being the name of the game.

Hurghada International Airport is only 5km away and has scheduled and charter flights descending from all the major airports of West and East Europe and also flights from Asia, Africa, Americas and the Far East. For the independent traveller many of the internet flight companies have Hurghada as a destination.

The holiday in Egypt is Friday, Weekend Friday and Saturday. In the tourist areas this makes very little difference but on Fridays there will be a few less taxi’s or shops open around the midday when most of the staff are at the Mosque.
