 HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS

At AQUARIUS we are constantly reviewing the requirements for continuously improving health and safety, ensuring compliance to travel organization needs, PADI standards and travel insurance requirements. Throughout your time with us it is our responsibility to take care of you at our centre, on our boats, catering and, of course, during diving.

All our staff receive ongoing training and all our guides, Dive Masters and Instructors are Emergency First Response trained and are fully conversant with the local support operations from Doctors to Hyperbaric Chambers. AQUARIUS is abiding to both the Egyptian u/w Federation and the PADI Standards.

Medical Statement

Prior to diving, you will be required to complete a PADI Medical Statement form. If you are in any doubt about your medical status then see your physician for his advise and medical statement giving you clearance to dive.

However, should you have a medical problem concerning diving we will be happy to help you consult the local doctor at the hyperbaric chamber, 35 km away.

Safety Procedures

Safety, for you, your buddy and us, is of paramount importance. You will be required to assure us that you will follow the PADI and local safety procedures for diving.

On Boats

Our boats are equipped with VHF radios, linking them to our main base to be able to alert our management if any emergency arising, and take the proper measures according to the emergency plan we have established. In addition to the VHF you will find on the boat an emergency first aid kit and oxygen cylinder. Our guides undergo a rescue drill twice a year to keep their rescue and EFR skills at the highest level.

Diving

No matter your diving level, if you have not been diving for the past 6 months, you will be asked to perform the five basic diving skills during the first dive, which are the regulator recovery, mask clearing, mask removal, alternate air source and hovering.

Our guides will always give you a thorough briefing before all dives, in which they will limit you to non-decompression dives and a maximum depth of 30 metres.

Hyperbaric Chamber

Only 35km north of the centre we have access to the hyperbaric chamber at Marsa Shagra and the physicians who operate the associated medical centre. The centre is available 24/7 and funded by a mandatory insurance fee we attach to all your diving with us. At only $6 for up to 3 weeks exceedingly good value.

The chamber’s physicians have specialist knowledge relating to diving and diving injuries.
