DIVING WITH AQUARIUS SHARM EL SHEIKH

Boat Excursions

Almost all diving in Sharm El Sheikh take place from boats and the AQUARIUS fleet of 6 boats are based at the Travco Marina, just south of Old Sharm. Every day the boats leave for trips to the Straight of Tiran, Ras Mohammed National Park or Local dive sites.

Non diving partners and friends can join the boats as passengers for an enjoyable day of catching the rays and bubble watching when the divers take to the water.

A Day with AQUARIUS

Our free transfer service will collect you from your hotel or accommodation with the aim to get you to the jetty by 8:00am. Your equipment will have been transferred to the boat for you and the boat will be provisioned ready for departure after boat briefing has been completed.

It takes between ½-2 hours to reach the dive sites, depending on the site, giving plenty of time to relax in the sun, prepare your equipment and listen to the dive briefings..

We plan for 2-3 dives a day, subject sea and site conditions, with rest periods and lunch in between. The crew on the boat make a fantastic Egyptian lunch – food and drinks on board is 40 Egyptian Pounds – and you order during transfers in the morning.

Return to the jetty is normally between 4-5pm where our vehicles will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in plenty of time for you to be ready for an evening in Naama, Old Sharm or the other “après diving” activities.

The Boats

The boats are the characteristic Egyptian white wooden boats, that you see all over the Red Sea. Notable vessels include Amir Said, the smallest, which takes about 18-20 divers, though on the other hand you can be sure, that the chef on Amir Said, will cook you one of the best Egyptian meals ever. Galaxy Sharm and Unous Tur are sister ships, Unous Tur being the big sister with a capacity of 35 divers and Galaxy Sharm slightly less at 25 divers.

All boats have to live up to AQUARIUS safety standards, and are equipped with VHF, first aid, oxygen and life jackets. The boat crew will consist of the captain, the cook and 1-2 deckhands. The crews are all Egyptian, who have been working in the Red Sea for years, many of them with AQUARIUS.

The Jetty

Almost all dive boats in Sharm leave from Travco Jetty, located in the southern part of Sharm El Sheikh. During mornings and afternoons the jetty is very lively, and filled with divers and crew members trying to maneuver from the boats to the minibuses, coasters and coaches.

The jetty brings new horizons to those who love people watching. Listen long enough and you will hear every language on earth. The jetty crews are the unsung hero’s of giving you access to the best diving in the world. Fuelling, watering and provisioning the boats with everything from food, soft drinks, tanks, gear boxes and toilet paper is an art form in itself.
